THE ATS LOCKS TEAM

When we got up Saturday morning did we think we could win 50 units for the weekend for the loyal subscribers of Ats Locks? Yes, yes and HELL YES. We had our pencils sharpened, our thinking caps on and all our contacts in place to make sure we provided the right side/totals to our clients. We will admit that when it was halftime of most of the Sat games we were sweating. We made a call to our guy Gus, in East Lansing and asked him what he was smoking all week while he touted the Spartans as 3 pt dogs as the upset winner. Man, was he pissed at us after that call. He did calm down, called us later and swore up and down his info was correct, but things happen. We forgave him, after all it was not a 15 or 20 unit play. Now after that call, our man we call the pope, called and told us that the Pitt team is for real and to make sure we play them the rest of the way out. We’ll see on that. We were glad the North Carolina defense went to a prevent defense with under 2 minutes to play. Because you know what happens when you play the prevent, it prevents you from, oh you know the rest. The Cavaliers scored to make it 10-10 and well, you all know the rest. The Northern Illinois/Toledo was another game where our Dekalb contact, (KNOWN AS EB) had the wisdom that the Huskies would not run it up because Coach Kill was not there last season when the Rockets put up 70 on Northern. Well he was right, they had a 4th and 8 late in the 4th and decided against the chip shot field goal up 38-7, so we thank you coach Kill. That leaves the PSU/MICH game to rehash. We felt and had info that the Lions were not looking past Michigan but down 17-7 early we wondered if we were bamboozled by sweet talking J-Man, our east coast contact. We sent a text to make sure he knew we were watching and the response came back as this and we quote, “MICHIGAN WILL NOT SCORE IN THE SECOND HALF”. And yes it was in all caps!! He was right, but we thank god the freshman wanted that late td cause Joe Pa almost killed us kicking that late 3 instead of punching it in on 4th and 1 from the 4 with 4 min to play.

Sundays card played out like we thought, the Saints spoiled a perfect day after injuries killed them, but the rest of the card produced 20 units of profit and the 15 unit totals play won again. We do have a funny story from Sunday though. We had a funny game day email from “Big T” in Chicago about the Vikings/Bears game. He was at his favorite watering hole Friday and ran into 3 Bears players who shall remain nameless. The guys were yapping about how they were going to eat up Frerotte, shut down Peterson and how the scheme that was put in this week would make it a classic bears defensive game from days gone by. Geez, us over players better hope they keep this “scheme” in for the rest of the year.

To kick off our Early Bird Basketball specials we have this sweet deal for all players. Sign up for a full season of any of our NBA/NCAA packages and get the rest of our NFL/NCAA Football selections FREE for the rest of the season. You won’t find a better deal anywhere!!

I have been intrigued lately with watching the public money. I won’t bore you with all the details of every game and the line, money movements, but I think we have been right on when we have released the other side of the plays the public has been backing, and backing HARD. Some of the action we have even stayed off of, thinking, there has to be a reason for this and the public must have something here. Two, most recent cases have been the USC/OREGON total and last nights total on TROY/FLA ATLANTIC game. We stayed off last night after just not having a great feel for which Troy team would show up. They had gotten blown out the last 2 games, granted vs much superior competition, but blown out nonetheless. But we were watching the total rise, it opened at 50, stuck there for a day, went to 51 and then boom. In a 2 hour span that number went from 51 to 53.5. That caught our eye and when that line closed at 54 if we could have gotten ahold of our members we would have stated to bet the house on the under. What happened? A 30-17 final and the under!!
The same thing occured in the USC/OREGON game except ALL the trends pointed to an under play for us at ATS LOCKS. We had the game pegged at o/u of 55 and when the total rose all the way to 57 we had the time to post our 20 unit winner and everyone went home happy. The public pounded that number all day Saturday figuring it would be a shootout. What our statfox.com trends/stats page showed was USC was 8-20 o/u as favorite, 9-21 o/u in all lined games and 1-13 o/u in lined home games the last 3 seasons.
What we are saying is when handicapping you have to be aware of where the public money is going and not be afraid to go against it. It does go against human nature to go away from what “the crowd” is doing but in gambling it comes to down to this. If you are winning, the “crowd” will follow you!
